Dr. Kamali, his late son Omar and other philanthropists have initiated the operation of a 15-bed hospital in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. We have acquired 110 acres of land. The goal is to build a state-of-the-art hospital in order to decrease Afghanistan's dependency on surrounding countries and build a 350-bed medical center that provides patient care as well as training for physicians, pharmacists and midwives. The name of our non-profit organization is AHERO [Afghanistan -Health, Education & Relief Organization] Federal I.D. 46-398-6112.
About our founder
AHERO was founded by Dr. Aziz Kamali. Dr. Kamali was born in Jalalabad, in eastern Afghanistan and raised in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, where he completed his high school education. He obtained his secondary education in Kabul and did his undergraduate studies at the University of Kabul.
He comes from a large family of medical and legal professionals who have been very active with the current development of Afghanistan. Dr. Kamali and his elder brother Hashim Kamali , a world renowned jurist, are following in the footsteps of their father, Mohammad Shirin Kamali, a judge in eastern Afghanistan.
Dr. Kamali is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento, California. He did his postgraduate training in England and has a full registration with the British General Medical Council. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and an Associate Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
